How to Choose CCTV Suppliers in UAE

A practical checklist for comparing CCTV suppliers and installers, the questions to ask, and the warning signs that a cheap quote may cost more later.

Buyer's Guide

Supplier, installer or both?

There are plenty of CCTV suppliers in UAE cities, from electronics shops selling boxed kits to companies that survey, supply, install and maintain the whole system. Supply-only can work for one or two simple cameras. For a villa, shop, office or warehouse, a supplier who also installs and supports the system is usually the safer choice, because one company is responsible if something does not work.

The price on the quote matters, but so do the things you cannot see on day one: genuine products, tidy cabling, a recorder set up properly, and someone who answers the phone when a camera goes offline. Use the checklist below to compare suppliers fairly.

Warning Signs

Red flags in a quote

A vague package

"8-camera package" with no brand, model, resolution or storage listed makes it impossible to compare or to claim the warranty later.

No look at the site

A final price for a villa or warehouse without photos, a plan or a visit often leads to extra charges once work starts.

Default passwords

Leaving the factory password on the recorder, or keeping the login to themselves, puts your footage at risk.

No written warranty

Verbal promises are hard to rely on. Ask for the warranty period on products and on the installation in writing.

Ask Every Supplier

Questions worth asking

Send the same questions to every supplier you are considering. The answers tell you as much as the price does.

Before you sign

  • Which brand and model is each camera and the recorder?
  • How many days of recording will the hard drive hold?
  • Where will the cables run, and will they be hidden or in trunking?
  • Does my premises need an approved installer or equipment?
  • Who sets up the phone app, and will the passwords be mine?
  • What is the warranty, and how fast do you respond to a fault?
  • Do you offer maintenance visits after installation?
How We Work

Our approach at Apex GenZ

We supply and install CCTV for homes and businesses in Dubai and across the UAE. We start by looking at your site, through a visit or photos and a floor plan on WhatsApp, then send an itemised quote that lists every camera, the recorder, storage and cabling. After installation we set up the phone app with your own passwords and show you how to play back footage. If you already have a system, our CCTV maintenance and repair service can check and fix it. See our CCTV installation page for the full service.

FAQ

Choosing a supplier, answered

How do I choose a CCTV supplier in the UAE?

Check the trade licence, ask for the brand and model of every item, get a site survey and an itemised written quote, confirm what rules apply to your premises, and ask about the warranty and support after installation.

Should I buy CCTV from a shop or from an installer?

A shop kit can work for one or two simple cameras. For villas, shops, offices and warehouses, a company that supplies, installs and supports the system is usually safer, because one company is responsible for the whole job.

Why are CCTV quotes from different suppliers so different?

Quotes differ on camera brand and resolution, recording days and hard drive size, cable quality, hidden or surface cabling, and what aftercare is included. An itemised quote shows you exactly what you are comparing.

Who should own the CCTV passwords?

You should. Ask the installer to change the default passwords, set up the admin account in your name and hand over the login details when the job is finished.

Do I need an approved CCTV installer for my business?

Many commercial premises in the UAE must follow authority rules on CCTV, which can include approved installers and equipment. Check with the relevant authority for your emirate and business type before you buy.
